A female pedestrian was killed Sunday before daybreak when she was struck by a vehicle, authorities said.

Port Arthur Police Department officers responded to the 5100 block of U.S. 69 SB at 3:49 a.m., where they found a female pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

The pedestrian died as a result of her injuries. The police said the Justice of the Peace arrived on scene and ordered an autopsy.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending the notification of family.

Members of the Advance Accident Investigation team as well as an ID technician responded to assist with the investigation, Sgt. Timothy Dinger said.
