BPD: Port Arthur man 1 of 2 arrested for narcotics, firearms

BEAUMONT — A traffic stop in Beaumont led to the arrest of a Port Arthur man and Pasadena woman on drug and firearms charges.

Beaumont Police Department officers conducted the traffic stop at 7:48 a.m. Tuesday near Lucas and Eastex Freeway.

During the stop, a K9 officer was called to assist, which led to the discovery of approximately 16.5 grams of methamphetamine, 6.8 grams of cocaine, 14.5 grams of MDMA (also known as ecstasy), 47.8 grams of alprazolam and two loaded handguns, according to information from BPD.

Police arrested Paul Rodriguez, 23, of Port Arthur and Adriana Torres, 23, of Pasadena, charging each with four counts of possession of a controlled substance and unlawfully carrying a weapon.

Both are being held at the Jefferson County Correctional Facility but have not been formally booked.
