Dignitaries and members of the Hughen Center board of directors broke ground on Tuesday at the site of a new high school campus for Bob Hope School.
The 20-acre land at 4545 Texas 73 next to 5Point Credit Union off the highway’s feeder road includes the former building for Central Baptist Church.
The new facility will include 40 classrooms, a new band hall, a gymnasium, a weight room and cafeteria.
The campus will hold about 560 students. Open land around the existing building allows for a tennis court, soccer field and track and field space.
The charter school’s current campus off of Ninth Avenue will house the middle school grades after the opening of the new high school campus.
