Mrs. Shirley Johnson was born February 18, 1936 to the union of Gus Eglin Sr. and Eberdna Jones-Eglin.

She was a 1956 graduate of Lincoln High School.

She retired from Park Place Hospital and Park Central Nursing Home.

She was a devoted member of Shilo Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Samuel Joseph Sr.

Shirley departed her earthly home on July 24, 2020.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Thurman, Gus, Jr., and Kermit Eglin; sisters, Verdna Chretien and Mildred Eglin; and daughter, Carolyn Johnson.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 61 years, James “JT” Johnson; daughters, Sharon (Joseph) Stevens and Germaine Francois; sons, Gary, Gerald, Tony, and Jamie Johnson; one sister, Jacquelyn Diaz; and one brother, Ronell Eglin; 17 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Gabriel Funeral Home Chapel with visitation from 12:30 p.m. until service time.

Burial will be in Houston National Cemetery.
