Edith Berniece Vincent, 87, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023, in Port Arthur, Texas, leaving behind cherished memories within the hearts of those who knew her.

A Visitation will be held on November 26, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Levingston Funeral Home – Groves.

This will be followed by a Funeral Service at the same location at 11:00 AM.

Berniece will then be laid to rest with a Burial Ceremony at Dry Creek Cemetery in Dry Creek, LA.

The burial will take place from 3:00 PM.

Berniece was born on November 14, 1936, in Dry Creek, LA, to James and Odis Weeks.

Berniece touched the lives of many through her remarkable and vibrant personality.

She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Berniece, a dedicated Supervisor in Dispatching at Sabine Offshore in Sabine Pass was known for her unwavering passion for reading.

She eagerly immersed herself in books whenever she had the chance, finding solace and joy within the pages.

Additionally, she possessed a deep appreciation for antiques and enjoyed exploring various antique shops.

One of Berniece’s talents that brought immense delight to those around her was her exceptional gumbo cooking skills.

She took pride in her ability to create delicious gumbo dishes that left everyone craving more.

Her culinary talent was a testament to her love of cooking and sharing moments of warmth with loved ones.

She is preceded in death by her three sisters and two brothers.

Berniece leaves behind a legacy of love as she is survived by her five adoring daughters: Karen Dowdy and husband Jeff of East Dublin, GA; Blyss Vincent and Husband Chad Bylsma of Seattle, Washington; Gilda Leigh and husband Karl of Groves, TX; Vickey Roccaforte and husband Mark of Port Arthur, TX; and Peggy Simon and husband Norris of Port Arthur, TX. Her influence extends to five great-grandchildren: Michelle Baird, Anna Perez, Tara Lewis, Celeste-Simon Cormier, and Deke Simon. Berniece’s ten great-grandchildren – Arilyn Erickson, Gavin Erickson, Jack De Hart, Parks Baird, Lily Baird, Catalina Perez, Jessica Perez, Mason Lewis, Tanner Lewis, Kade Simon, and Madeleine and Vincent Cormier – and two great-great-grandchildren – Harper and Adeline – will forever be reminded of her love and cherished memories.

During this time of grieving, let us remember Berniece for the remarkable woman she was.

As we celebrate her life and mourn her loss, let us find comfort in the beautiful memories she has left behind.

She will forever remain in our hearts as a loving and vibrant soul who brought joy to all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.
