Drug arrests lowlight this week’s Jefferson County indictments

Drug possession and evading arrest cases were the top crimes in which indictments were handed down by a Jefferson County grand jury this week.
- Krista D. Bass, 31, of Nederland was indicted for possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, for an incident that occurred June 10.
- Triston Deshawn Ashton Brooks, 18, of Beaumont was indicted for evading arrest detention with a vehicle for an incident that occurred Nov. 13.
- Meagan Renee Burrows, 36, of Vidor was indicted for possession of a controlled substance, cocaine, for an incident that occurred June 29.
- La Tarsha Renee Fields, 45, of Beaumont was indicted for possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, for an incident that occurred July 14.
- Tyree Michael Frazier, 19, of Beaumont was indicted for possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, for an incident that occurred July 23.
- Leonard Bruce Freeman, 65, of Port Arthur was indicted for possession of a controlled substance, cocaine, for an incident that occurred July 23.
- Tyler Del Gallier, 24, of Vidor was indicted for possession of a controlled substance, fentanyl, for an incident that occurred June 30.
- Kevin Wardell Gumms, 37, of Port Arthur was indicted for possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, for an incident that occurred July 26.
- Clayniesha Rochaie Hunter, 23, of Beaumont was indicted for evading arrest detention with a vehicle for an incident that occurred Nov. 22.
An indictment is not a final conviction of guilt; it is only a ruling by the grand jury that allows the district attorney’s office to proceed with a criminal case.
