PORT NECHES — A new pavilion is cause for celebration in Port Neches, adding a covered space for community events.

The pavilion at Port Neches Avenue and Nall Street is going to be a setting for live music and community events and can also be rented from the Port Neches Chamber of Commerce, executive director Crystal Jordan said.

According to Jordan, the community response to the pavilion is positive, with many seeing it as an asset to the businesses along the avenue to grow and create more events.

The pavilion could be used for the annual Christmas event, Art Walk and more.

“We can have a little bit of shelter for our events, and the community will be able to use it,” Jordan said. “We are very thankful for what the city built for us.”

Port Neches Public Works Director Clint Fore said the city’s economic development corporation is responsible for the pavilion, as it owns the land.

The 20-feet by 25-feet structure has ceiling fans, and the Chamber supplies electricity.

The cost of the project is approximately $40,000.

Chamber leaders are working out the details on renting the pavilion.

A block party and ribbon cutting were held recently to celebrate the new addition to the avenue. There were food trucks, entertainment and more.

The pavilion fits right in with the continued growth along the avenue, such as a new restaurant build out and cocktail bar at 1107 Port Neches Ave. called Grigsby’s. The owners of Avenue Axe are the brainchild of the new restaurant.
