The names of the two victims killed in a fiery crash when struck by a suspected drunk driver Friday morning have been released.

Camille Marti, 21, of Beaumont and Loren Icenhower, 25, of Beaumont died at the scene on U.S. 69 near the 534-mile marker, Justice of the Peace Brad Burnett said.

The women were identified through family members, he said.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating he crash that occurred at approximately 1:44 a.m.

Preliminary investigation showed a Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling south in the northbound lane and struck another vehicle head-on, killing the occupants.

The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 51-year-old Salvador Gamez of Brownsville, was taken to a nearby hospital and is facing two counts of intoxication manslaughter, a felony offense, according to information from DPS.

Bond has not been set because Gamez was still hospitalized Friday afternoon, according to the Jefferson County sheriff’s Office.

Jefferson County Water District No. 10 Volunteer Fire Department was one of the responding agencies, according to its Facebook page.

Firefighters found two vehicles on fire with entrapment, and WD10 requested mutual aid from Nederland Fire Department.

Firefighters remained on scene for four hours during the investigation until the roadway was cleared.
