Looking to ring in the Fourth of July with some family fun? Southeast Texans will have options — the cities of Port Arthur and Nederland are both hosting family-friendly events for the community.

Port Arthur, Lamar State College-Port Arthur and Motiva are teaming up to provide a celebration at the Seawall. Their Fourth of July festival begins at 6 p.m. and will feature plenty of entertainment and fireworks.

The event includes outdoor axe throwing, mechanical bulls and a video game truck. Inside the Carl Parker Center at 1800 Lakeshore Drive, kids can jump around in bounce houses, have their faces painted and capture some memories in a photo booth.

The fireworks start at 9 p.m. on the Seawall. There will be food trucks and free ice cream, as well as a live performance by Port Arthur native Hunter Courts, who won a national singing contest.

Over in Nederland, festivities will start at 4 p.m. at Dornbos Park.

Two live bands will perform throughout the evening. Austin Stepchildren mainly play classic rock and take the stage at 4:30, while southern blues band Old Lonesome will perform at 7 p.m.

Kids can play around on one of several inflatables and cool off with a trip down the giant waterslide. The swimming pool next-door will also be open, while food trucks will sell refreshments.

Nederland’s firework show starts at 9 p.m. and should last around 15 minutes.

Additionally, veterans who pre-registered will be honored with their own flags on display in the Field of Honor and access to a VIP viewing area for the fireworks show.
