Deputies seize five pounds of meth, fentanyl in traffic stop

Two Louisiana men were arrested late last week on drug charges following a traffic stop in Jefferson County.
According to information from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, detectives with the Jefferson County Narcotics Interdiction Division conducted a routine traffic stop on Interstate-10 near Major Drive in Beaumont. Detectives searched the car with probable cause. They found approximately one pound of suspected fentanyl and approximately five pounds of suspected methamphetamine.
Two men from New Orleans, 32-year old Kory Schaffer and 35-year old Darrell Coleman, were arrested and taken to Jefferson County Correctional Facility. Each man was charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s office is working with the Drug Enforcement Administration on the case.
