Bond set for man who reportedly hid in attic to avoid arrest warrant

Bond is set at $20,000 for a man who was reportedly found in the attic of a home when police attempted to arrest him on a warrant.
The U.S. Marshal’s Office-Beaumont Division and officers from Port Arthur Police Department attempted to execute a high-risk arrest warrant at approximately 6:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 2000 block of 12th Street for Michael Anthony Spain Jr., 41.
During the incident communications failed and Spain reportedly refused to leave the residence, according to information from PAPD.
Officers used the homeowner’s key to make entry into the residence and members of the Port Arthur Police Department’s SWAT Team arrived to assist with entry.
Spain was believed to be hiding in the attic.
SWAT Team members climbed into the attic and located Spain, who was taken into custody without further incident. Michael Spain was arrested on a warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
