The body of a man that appeared to have washed ashore at Crystal Beach this week has been identified as a Mid County area resident.

An official with the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office said the man is identified as Shaun Land, 45, of Nederland.

A person walking along Crystal Beach discovered Land’s body just before 4 a.m. Tuesday.

An official with the Sheriff’s Office said there did not appear to be any signs of foul play and the cause of death is not known as of Wednesday afternoon.
