Heat advisory affecting Jefferson and Orange counties Tuesday

A heat advisory was issued by the National Weather Service on Monday at 2:44 p.m. valid for Tuesday between noon and 9 p.m.

The NWS states to anticipate, “Heat index values of 108 to 112 degrees expected.”

“Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses,” adds the NWS.

  • Stay hydrated: Remember to drink plenty of fluids.
  • Find cool shelter: Stay in an air-conditioned room.

  • Recognize heat-related issues: Familiarize yourself with warning signs and how tp recognize the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
  • Stay cool with clothing: Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing to help your body stay cool.
