The Nederland Bulldogs baseball program will have a new, but familiar, face in the clubhouse this season.

Jay Stone has officially been named Head Baseball Coach at Nederland High School. The district announced the news via press release Aug. 16.

Stone boasts over 40 years of coaching experience with stops at Orangefield, Port Neches-Groves and a previous stint with the Bulldogs. He is also a member of the Southeast Texas Coaches Association Hall of Honor.

“Coach Stone has many years of experience and Nederland ISD is proud to have someone of his caliber leading the program. He has great work ethic and understands the culture of today’s athletes,” said Superintendent Dr. Stuart Kieschnick.

The move comes after previous head coach Kyle Green resigned last week.

“I graduated from Nederland and have been coaching for eight years,” Green said. “It was just a good time for me to make a move and do something different.”
