An autopsy is scheduled for a man whose body was found behind a vacant building Monday.
The name of the deceased has not been released by police.
He is described as a black male, possibly in his 40s.
Port Arthur police are investigating the discovery of a deceased individual. No update on the incident was available as of noon Tuesday.
Justice of the Peace Joseph Guillory II said he received a call of a deceased person just before 12 p.m. Monday. The deceased was either sitting up or leaning against a fence behind Star City Motors LLC, 4040 Gulfway Drive.
It is unknown how long the person was dead.
Police vehicles were still at the location about an hour later. A red tarp was used to block the view of the scene and officers were seen going behind the tarp and back out. Yellow crime scene tape was also used to mark off the area until the body was removed.
Several calls to Port Arthur Police Chief Tim Duriso were made Tuesday but no returned by press time.
