Larry James Linscomb, 90, of Buna passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024 at Silsbee Oaks Health Care.

Larry was born on August 23, 1933 in Port Arthur, Texas to his loving parents Esther (Wagner) and Buren Marie Linscomb.

Larry lived and grew up in Port Arthur, Texas until serving his country by joining the United States Air Force. When he returned to Port Arthur, he worked  as a pipefitter and retired from Texaco Oil at the age of 55. Once retired, Larry and Mary Helen moved to Buna, Texas and spent their days enjoying their farm, gardening, and raising his beloved cattle.

Larry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was always known for his sense of humor and enjoyment of laughter by his silly jokes or funny stories. Larry devoted his life to loving his family and The Lord. More than anything, Larry looked forward to attending church services, reading his prayer books, and spending time with his family. While living in Port Arthur, they were devoted members of Trinity Lutheran where they were married, and then St. Paul Lutheran in Jasper, Texas during their retired years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Buren and Esther Linscomb, and his sisters, Ruth Miller, Marjorie Tate and Vera Whitley.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 70 plus years, MaryHelen Linscomb of Buna, his daughter, Carla Rials of Lumberton, his brother, Jesse Linscomb of Gonzales, his sister, Jeanie Ford and her husband, John of Nederland, his granddaughter, Ashley Causey and her husband, Brent of Lumberton, as well as an abundance of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. in Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, with gathering of family and friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Pastor Tom Haas. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
