Wednesday, Aug 28: Latest updates from the NHC on Tropical Storm Gilma

On Wednesday at 10 am, the National Hurricane Center issued an advisory stating that Tropical Storm Gilma is 615 miles east of Hilo Hawaii and 810 miles east of Honolulu Hawaii, with maximum sustained wind of 45 mph. It’s moving 14 mph to the west.

“Continued weakening is expected, and Gilma is expected to weaken to a remnant low by Friday.” forecasters explained.

YESTERDAY (Tuesday):

Yesterday, Gilma changed first into a Category 1 hurricane and then into a tropical storm with sustained winds of 45 miles per hour.

HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND:

RAINFALL: The remnants of Gilma may bring heavy rainfall to portions of the Hawaiian Islands as early as Friday, lasting through Saturday.
