Arrests made in Citgo gas station robbery

Bond is set at $75,000 each for a man and woman arrested in connection with the armed robbery of a Nederland area gas station.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office detectives located the two individuals and their vehicle at a nearby RV park Tuesday.

Detectives arrested Carley Fowler, 20, of Nederland and Cole Schroeder, 20, of Beaumont. Evidence from the crime was recovered, including the rifle according to information from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Fowler and Schroeder are each charged with aggravated robbery.

The crime occurred at 10:28 p.m. Monday at Citgo gas station, 2468 U.S. 69.

Surveillance video showed that a masked white male and female entered the store. The male suspect was armed with a rifle. The suspect pointed the rifle at the clerk and demanded money. The male suspect became engaged in a struggle with the clerk over the rifle, according to information from the Sheriff’s Office.

The suspects were unable to get the money from the register and ran out the door.

The clerk sustained injuries during the struggle and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
