VFW Post 4820 visits local church

Six members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4820, and the VFW Post Auxiliary President DeAnn Soderholm attended Valverde Baptist Church on Sept. 8.
The members were there as special guests to post the colors of the United States and Texas.
The Church typically has a “Patriots Day” theme close to 9/11 in remembrance of those lost on Sept. 11, 2001, and to remind parishioners about American values, and those links between Christian values and American values.
The Pastor in both his remarks and his sermon made it clear that he was extremely pleased with the work of the military, police, firefighters, as well as Emergency Medical Technicians who put themselves in harm’s way for the greater good of the collective, Soderholm said.
Patriots Day is observed in the United States on Sept. 11 to commemorate the lives of those who died in the 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Virginia, and those of hijacked United Airlines Flight 93 in Pennsylvania.
