GROVES — As fall approaches, so does the annual Groves Pecan Festival.
While the Groves Pecan Festival will be held Oct. 10 to 13 at Lions Park in Groves, the annual parade is set for 10 a.m. Saturday.
The parade will follow the same route as recent years, leaving Cleveland at 39th Street, then traveling 39th Street to Gulf, a right on Gulf Street and to the Fire Station area for disbanding. The Grand Marshall this year, Olivia Wellings will be leading the parade in a vehicle provided by Bolton CDJR. Wellings is the current 2024 Groves Citizen of the Year.
Last Saturday was the Groves Pecan Festival Scholarship Pageant with the theme “Fiesta.” The event, which had 39 contestants vying for a number of categories, was held at Pathway Church, Mid-County.
This year’s royal court includes:
- Jamie Morris, Petite Miss
- Quinn Brennan, Little Miss
- Jenner Dauterive, Countess
- Gray Whitaker, Duchess
- Staton Taylor, Junior Miss
- Emily Brannin, Queen
This year’s Festival entertainment line up includes Faith, Praise, and Worship night with Bridgepoint Worship Team and special guest Will Akins.
Local favorite, The Pea Patch Orchestra, will perform. Returning again as well is the ever-so-popular Catalina Wine Mixer.
There will be appearances by Wonder Woman and Captain America, and the Mexican Heritage Festival Folklorico Dancers will be back this year.
