Early voting begins today/Oct. 21, also includes local races

Early voting in the General Election begins Monday and runs through Nov. 1 with Election Day on Nov. 5.

Besides the federal and state races, there are also some contested races close to home.

Two candidates are vying for the Jefferson County sheriff’s spot. They include incumbent Sheriff Zena Stephens, Democrat, and Steven Broussard, Republican.

County Tax Assessor-Collector

Two candidates are in the running for tax assessor-collector. They are Kate Caroll, Republican, and Rashawn “Shawn”” Webb-Locke, Democrat.

City of Groves

Groves voters will see four contested races.

  • Mayor: incumbent Chris Borne, Michael Boudreaux
  • Councilmember Ward II: Incumbent Paul Oliver, Tanner Thompson, Brandon Holmes
  • Councilmember Ward IV: Incumbent Rhonda Dugas, Rae Shauna Gay, Kyle Hollier
  • City Marshal: Christopher Robin, Rudy Guerrero
