Port Arthur Office of the Mayor and Emergency Management are advising residents to prepare for the upcoming severe cold weather that is set to begin Sunday.

The city is encouraging everyone to begin preparations now. Please check back for updates.

Early preparations should include:

• PIPES: Wrap and protect exposed pipes. Drain pipes and shut off the water during the hard, freezing temperatures.
• PLANTS: If possible move tropical and delicate plants inside. If plants cannot be moved inside try to move to least exposed area and cover.
• PETS: Provide a warm, dry, place for pets during these severe cold weather conditions.
• PEOPLE: Check on individuals who may have housing or heating challenges. If you cannot provide housing direct them to warming stations. (Locations will be in released in an update)
