WEATHER ALERT – Updated Monday (2 p.m.) list of closings due to Winter Weather warning.

 

The following closings have been announced due to the upcoming winter weather event: (Newly added are in bold)

Schools

• Port Arthur ISD closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
• Nederland ISD closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
• Port Neches-Groves ISD closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
• Bob Hope Schools closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
• Tekoa Academy (Port Arthur and Orange) closed Tuesday, and Wednesday.
• Catholic schools of the Diocese of Beaumont will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday. The schools will delay start of school until 10 a.m. Thursday.
• Lamar State College Port Arthur will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
• Lamar University will be closed Tuesday.
• Lamar Institute of Technology will be closed Tuesday.
• Lamar State College Orange will be closed Tuesday.

Cities, county, other

• Jefferson County offices will be closed Tuesday.
• Museum of the Gulf Coast will be closed Tuesday and reopen at 9 a.m. Wednesday unless weather conditions persist.
• City of Groves offices will be closed on Tuesday.
• Groves Senior Center will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. They will reopen Friday.

Alerts

• The city of Nederland is asking residents to voluntarily conserve water as much as possible during the winter weather event due to greater consumption from customers dripping their waterlines due to freezing temperatures.
• Port Arthur Animal Control Services has moved all animals inside during the Arctic freezing weather event.
