The National Weather Service issued a dense fog advisory at 10:24 p.m. on Wednesday valid from 11 p.m. until Thursday 9 a.m. The advisory is for West Cameron, East Cameron, Lower Vermilion, Lower Iberia and Lower St. Mary as well as Jefferson County.

The NWS describes, “Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.”

“Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous,” describes the NWS. “If driving, slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.”

Once stationary, turn off all lights except the hazard flashers, engage the emergency brake, and release the brake pedal to ensure your tail lights are not illuminated, reducing the risk of other drivers colliding with your stationary vehicle.
