A man in Port Arthur was killed when he was working on a vehicle and the jack stand slipped.

First responders were called at approximately 7:15 p.m. Wednesday to a home in the 2700 block of 22nd Street where a man was trapped under a vehicle.

He was taken to The Medical Center of Southeast Texas where he died around 11 p.m., Justice of the Peace Joseph Guillory II said.

An autopsy was ordered.

The deceased is identified as Jorge Gutierrez, 37, of Port Arthur.
