2 corrections officers arrested in separate incidents

Two area corrections officers were arrested last week in separate incidents where authorities claim they tried to bring a prohibited substance into facilities.
James Davis, Jr. was arrested by the Office of Inspector General for attempting to bring a prohibited substance into the Larry Gist State Jail. He was transported to the Jefferson County Jail. He is no longer employed with Texas Department of Criminal Justice, according to information from the director of communications for the TDCJ.
Ja’colby Smith-Barber was arrested by the Office of Inspector General for attempting to bring a prohibited substance into the Stiles Unit. He was transported to the Jefferson County Jail. He is no longer employed with TDCJ.
