BEAUMONT – February 11, Jefferson County District Judge Raquel West sentenced 39-year-old Jonathan Zuniga-Bravo, a Columbian National,  to 10 years in prison for felony burglary of a habitation. Zuniga-Bravo pled guilty to the charges.

On May 8, 2024, Groves Police responded to a burglar alarm at a residence and reports of multiple masked individuals breaking in. Officers arrived to find evidence of forced entry. Two suspects fled but were quickly apprehended, including Zuniga-Bravo and 30-year-old Pedro Henry.

Nearby, officers stopped a suspicious vehicle driven by 32-year-old Jaider Quinones-Riascos, who was arrested after evidence linked him to the crime. Investigators found that the suspects were targeting a homeowner’s safe and used a jamming device to interfere with police radio communications.

Assistant District Attorney Tommy L. Coleman presented evidence that Zuniga-Bravo had previously been stopped in January 2023 in a vehicle containing burglary tools, weapons, ski masks, and GPS trackers.

“This represents a new and disturbing level of criminal technological ingenuity for these defendants to not only commit burglary but block law enforcement’s ability to use their radios when they respond,” Coleman said.

After bonding out, the co-defendants, Henry and Riascos have since absconded. “We will use every tool in our toolbox to hunt down, apprehend and return Henry and Riascos to Jefferson County for the purpose of holding them accountable,” Coleman added.

Zuniga-Bravo also faces additional felony charges, including unlawful use of a criminal instrument and interference with a radio frequency. He was sentenced to 10 years but could have faced up to 20 years. He will be eligible for parole after serving one-fourth of his sentence.
