NEDERLAND — Miss Nederland Evyn Guidry is ready to represent the town she loves so much while volunteering and giving back to the community.
The 16-year-old, who earned the title in February, plans to continue to spend her Saturday mornings volunteering as a buddy with Adaptive Sports for Kids, something which she has done for a while and thoroughly enjoys. She also looks forward to visiting and reading at the elementary schools, riding in parades, attending the Nederland Heritage Festival and other community wide events and so much more, she said.
Earning the title of Miss Nederland was something Guidry had wanted for a long time.
“I’ve been competing in pageants since the age of 2. I love everything about pageantry and believe it has taught me some of the greatest qualities that I portray today,” she said. “I have dreamed of the day I would compete and hopefully win the title of Miss Nederland. I have found it is so much more than a sash and crown. It is a true honor.”
Andrea Guidry, her mother, describes her as genuine, joyful, ambitious and kind. Even exudes joy and happiness and is the epitome of a fantastic role model, she said.
“I admire her confidence, enthusiasm for life and the way she cares so much for others,” Andrea Guidry said when asked what she admires of her daughter.
Guidry is a busy student at Nederland High School. Her accomplishments include being the Top 10 % of her class, National Junior Honor Society, co-head cheerleader, American Legion Award and a F.I.T. award which stands for First Is Third, “putting God first, others second and herself third.”
She’s also a student council treasurer and member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and First Priority.
The 2025 Miss Nederland has learned to juggle all of the above successfully.
“I love to cheer on the Nederland Bulldogs and enjoy staying busy, but academics are most important to me,” she said. “It’s a challenge at times, but I seem to juggle all of my extra-curricular activities and school work well.”
Evyn Guidry is the daughter of Andrea and Brad Guidry.
