A crash between two Hotard buses that caused a third bus to veer off the road Wednesday has left upwards of 60 people injured.

Port Arthur Police Chief Tim Duriso said the crash occurred at about 4:20 p.m on Texas 73 east near the Bob Bowers Civic Center.

Duriso said up to 60 people were injured and sent to hospitals. That number was unconfirmed as of 8:30 p.m., he said.

The cause of the crash is not known at this time but it appears one bus hit a second bus and a third bus, trying to avoid the crash, veered off the road, he said.

Hotard is a charter bus company that locally offers shuttle service for workers in the industrial field.

Duriso said traffic was diverted to alternate routes until the scene was cleared.

Further information is not available at this time.
