Perry E. Staton, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025, in Columbus, Texas, at the age of 99. Born on October 22, 1925, in Ashland, Kentucky, Perry lived a life marked by dedication, love, and resilience.
Perry proudly served his country as an Army veteran during World War II, embodying the values of bravery and sacrifice. His time in the military was a reflection of his commitment to serving others, a spirit that he carried throughout his life.
He is survived by his son, Gary Staton, and Gary’s wife, Sandy, of Columbus, Texas. Perry was a devoted grandfather to his grandchildren—Jason Staton, Jenny Staton, Ben Staton, and Christen Staton—who will remember him fondly for the warmth and wisdom he shared. Perry’s legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, including Emma Kate Staton, Evan Staton, and Easton Staton, who brought immense joy into his life.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Perry A. Staton and Dorthy Ratliff Staton, as well as his beloved wife of 76 years, Betty Staton, and his son, Greg Staton. Perry was one of nine siblings. Joyce Saba(deceased), Doris Pinson(deceased), Gloria Little(deceased), Jeannie Johnson(deceased), David Henry Staton(deceased), Gerry Harris, Mary Odom and Alice Van Kleeck Staton.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will continue to resonate within his family and friends. Perry will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering dedication to family, and the timeless lessons he imparted to all fortunate enough to know him. His spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
