A person is dead following a head-on crash just before midnight Wednesday on Nederland Avenue.

Nederland Assistant Police Chief Andy Arnold said the driver of a pickup truck was traveling west on Nederland Avenue and stopped in the turning lane at 21st Street. The driver of a small SUV was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on Nederland Avenue and struck the truck head-on causing the SUV to flip. 

The driver of the SUV died at the scene.

Police have not released the name of the deceased as of 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
