Gary Wayne Arvie, born January 30, 1960 in Port Arthur, Texas to the late Lee Bell Arvie & Bertha Lynn Thomas. Gary entered eternal rest on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Christus St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, TX.  

A lifelong resident of Port Arthur, Texas Gary was a proud member of Abraham Lincoln High School Class of 1978.  Following high school Gary embraced life in the Oilfield Industry and later ended his career in construction trade. He was affectionately known by family and friends as Ga-Ga and Shaow-Meow.

Gary is preceded in death by his father, Lee Bell Arvie; paternal grandparents, Ferdinand and Addie Jack Arvie; his maternal grandparents, Carlton and Armois Wilson Thomas; uncles, Climpton Arvie, Ozan Arvie, Wages Arvie and Efton Thomas, Sr.; aunts, Beverda Bias, Evelina Chriswell, Bertha Guillory, Marcie Scott, and Betty Thomas. 

Gary’s legacy of love and memories lives on through his devoted mother, Bertha Lynn Arvie; children, Tanya Arvie, LaShonda Brown (Edward, Sr.), Kristopher Briscoe, Jasmin’ Rogers-Arvie, Ja’Maya Rogers-Arvie and Jahmal Rogers-Arvie; siblings, Denita Ann Lewis (Ole), Alton Lee Arvie, Sr. (Arstella) and Mona Gail Foots (Douglas, Sr); step-mother, Jane Price; step-brothers Howard Price, Harold Price, Jr. and Eldridge Price, Sr. (Grisette); aunts, Zetta Alfred and Catherine Simon; grandchildren, Javonte, Deshawn, Mahogany, Edward, Jr., Jacci, Ja’ven & Kylen. He also leaves behind a host loving and supportive nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2025 at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 501 West Thomas Blvd., Port Arthur, Texas with visitation from 8 a.m. until service time.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
