Police in Port Arthur are looking for at least two people in connection with a recent shooting and the discovery of suspected marijuana, pre-loaded THC vape pens, and what appears to be a credit/debit card cloning operation.
The shooting and subsequent discovery happened Saturday in a Griffing Park neighborhood. Port Arthur Police Chief Tim Duriso said police had not received any calls of suspicious activity at the home in the 4200 block of Forest Drive. The edit/debit card cloning operation, which included an electronic credit/debit card cloning device and blank credit cards, was something they hoped wasn’t occurring in the city but found out otherwise.
Duriso said preliminary investigation shows the operation is likely local and not part of a larger operation.
Police had received a call of a disturbance Saturday in the 4200 block of Forest Drive and learned an individual had been shot and received non-life threatening injuries. The male who was shot is a Port Arthur resident. He received non life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
During the subsequent investigation officers and a detective found the suspected marijuana, pre-loaded THC vape pens, an electronic credit/debit card cloning device, blank credit cards, and numerous bullets and a weapon. The Narcotics and Guns Unit will continue to follow leads into multiple trafficking violations.
The investigation into how the shooting and marijuana/card cloning operation fit together is ongoing.
