PORT NECHES — Authorities have released the name of a man who died at a shipyard in Port Neches.
The deceased was identified as Ricardo Manzo-Contreras, 35, of Port Arthur, Port Neches Police Chief Cheri Griffith said.
Preliminary autopsy results were not available Monday.
Justice of the Peace Brad Burnett said the call came in at approximately 10 a.m. Friday at Sterling Shipyard which is located at 906 Main St., Port Neches.
A worker, described as a 35-year-old male, was welding under a barge when a co-worker noticed the man appeared to be asleep. When the man was checked, he was not moving.
Burnett said he did not see anything out of the ordinary at the scene but added it is an active job site. An autopsy has been ordered.
On Dec.14, shipyard worker Ricki Slone Jr. died in a heavy equipment incident at the facility.
