Irene Placette Schlueter

Irene Schlueter 94, of Groves died Saturday, July 4, 2015 at Oak Grove Nursing Home.
She was born on September 1, 1920 in Port Arthur, Texas to Ceasar and Winnie Placette and was a 1939 graduate of Thomas Jefferson and a resident of Port Arthur/Groves all of her life.
Irene retired from JC Penney’s after 30 years of service and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Edward Schlueter, parents and a brother, Ray Placette. Survivors include a brother, Jack Placette and his wife Kay of Hemphill, Texas and 5 nephews and 3 nieces.
A gathering of Irene’s family and friends will begin Tuesday, July 7, 2015 from 5-8 PM at the funeral home. A rosary will be prayed at 6 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 10:00 AM in Clayton Thompson Funeral Home chapel with Rev. J.C. Coon officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
Thanks to Oak Grove Nursing Home for the compassion and care given to our Aunt during her stay.  Thanks also New Century Hospice for all the tender care during this time.
A special note of appreciation goes to Ms. Ola Hogan for the many hours of loving care she provided to Irene in her final years.  Her tender care and compassion will always be treasured and appreciated.
