Myrtle Anne Fried Lyday

Myrtle Anne Fried Lyday , age 87, of Port Arthur Texas passed away peacefully on July 10, 2015 with her daughters by her side. Myrt was born on June 4, 1928 in Port Arthur, Texas, the daughter of Henry and Louise Provost Fried. She was a graduate of St. James Catholic High School. In Port Arthur she worked as a secretary for Texaco Oil Company for a year saving her money in order to attend Southwestern Louisiana Institute. She later attended Lamar College and was employed by Gulf Oil where she met her husband Bryan Lyday. They married in 1951 and had four children.
During her life she traveled all over the world including living in Puerto Rico for five years with Russia being her favorite destination. Myrt was also civic minded and volunteered at The Museum of the Gulf Coast and Pompeiian Villa.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, three  sisters, her husband Bryan Lyday and  a son Bryan Lynn Lyday. Myrt leaves behind  daughter and son in law Kim and Paul Hollier; daughter and son in law Lee Anne and Dave Shampang; and daughter Laurie Lyday Lavoie.; Honey’s six grandchildren:  Allyson  Garven (Charles),  Meghan Hollier;  Paul  Hollier (Sara),  Trey Shampang, Thad Shampang and Brylee Lavoie. Three great-grandchildren: Isaac Garven, Elliot Garven and Lily Kate Hollier.
She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.  Honey was blessed to have had very special caregivers over the last two years  especially Madi, Jacque, Brandy, Kristen, Krystal, Anita and Wanda.
Graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park at the Chapel of All Souls Mausoleum in Groves, Texas on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 2:00 pm.
Honorary pallbearers are the boys in her life: Paul Hollier, Dave Shampang, Paul Hollier II, Trey Shampang, Thad Shampang, Charles Garven, Isaac Garven and Elliot Garven.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
