GROVES — The former St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Groves, which has been unused since Hurricane Harvey, is being demolished.
A representative of the Catholic Diocese of Beaumont said although the church is being demolished, there are several other buildings at the site that are not being torn down.
The property is currently for sale.
Lark Group Inc. is handling the demolition.
The church, located at 2049 Taft Avenue in Groves, saw damage with the 2017 hurricane as well as previous hurricanes.
When the church closed its doors, its congregation merged with that of Immaculate Conception in Groves, becoming Immaculate Conception- St. Peter the Apostle Church.
