The parents of a 1-year-old who was found alone in an apartment by a pest control worker were indicted this week by a Jefferson County grand jury, authorities said.
A pest control worker at an apartment complex at 5850 Calder Avenue in Beaumont located a child in an apartment at approximately 9:25 a.m. Nov. 6.
Beaumont Police Department officers and the assistant manager of the complex attempted to contact all the numbers on file to locate the parents and were without success, according to the probable cause affidavit.
At approximately 11:05 a.m., the parents, identified as Lilia del Carmen Franco, 21, and Rodrick Lanier Tillman Jr., 24, arrived on scene.
By this time, almost two hours had passed since the pest control worker found the child.
Franco and Tillman reportedly told police they were together at work.
Due to Franco and Tillman having custody, car or control and a child younger than 15 years, and intentionally abandoning the child in a place under circumstances that exposed the child to an unreasonable risk or harm, they were arrested on a charge of endangering a child, police said.
