Port Arthur Police are progressing in the investigation of Tuesday’s homicide as they begin work on a second homicide that occurred Wednesday.
PAPD Maj. Raymond Clark said they have successful leads into the death of Michael Blanchard, 42, of Port Arthur, whose body was discovered Tuesday morning by a deliveryman behind Royal Furniture, 4221 Gulfway Drive.
Blanchard was found with at least one gunshot wound.
A related shooting occurred around 11:30 p.m. Monday night in the 4000 block of Gulfway Drive. The man, whose name has not been released, went to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the forearm. He was later transferred to Hermann Memorial Hospital in Houston where he underwent surgery. Police plan to speak with the man regarding his possible involvement with the fatal shooting of Blanchard.
On Wednesday, police received a call around 11:30 a.m. for what was initially believed to be a suicide in the 2000 block of Stanley Boulevard.
The deceased, Quientein Hill, 35, was found dead of a gunshot wound.
The victim’s girlfriend had tried to contact him via phone and became concerned when she couldn’t reach him. She got into contact with the man’s brother who went to the house several times and knocked. He later decided to break into the house and found Hill deceased on the couch with a gunshot wound, Clark said.
Justice of the Peace Marc Derouen pronounced the man dead and ordered an inquest.
No further information is available on either homicide as of Wednesday night.
