Two-time Super Bowl champ and current Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Elandon Roberts is speaking this week to the 8th grade class at Abraham Lincoln Fine Arts Academy.
The event starts at 8:30 a.m. Friday in the boys’ gymnasium.
This event is not open to the public, school officials said.
Roberts, a 2012 graduate of Memorial High School, played college football at Morgan
State University and the University of Houston before being drafted to the NFL.
He’s played for the New England Patriots, with whom he won two Super Bowl championships, the Miami Dolphins and now the Steelers.
According to the campus, the purpose of Roberts’ visit is to motivate this population of students as they prepare to conclude their middle school years and embark upon their high school journeys.
Roberts, Academy leaders and Port Arthur Independent School District leaders expect the students to finish their middle school career strong.
Roberts expressed his desire to share motivational points of his academic, athletic and professional careers in hopes of inspiring the next generation.
As a proud product of PAISD, he plans to encourage students to remain vigilant in their academic studies and career aspirations.
The pro athlete is a partner in more than one successful local business in his hometown of Port Arthur.
He is the recipient of the 2021 Ed Block Courage Award in Miami and the 2020 Nat Moore Community Service Award.
He was also inducted into the Museum of the Gulf Coast in Port Arthur.
