With more than 21,000 members across a three-county area, MCT Credit Union holds firm to the driving force — “Never Stop Growing.”

And growth is what is happening with the credit union recently opening a Beaumont branch at 3950 North Dowlen Road.

The reason for expansion to add a Beaumont location was simple.

CEO/President Thad Angelle said there are more than 2,000 Beaumont-area members, and the credit union’s primary goal is to serve the entire membership.

“We have over 21,000 members, primarily in Southeast Texas. We handle Hardin, Orange and Jefferson counties and are looking to expand our demographics and increase the counties we are serving,” Angelle said.

The newest location is a bit different; though it offers the same services.
The Beaumont location is the first fully automated location, according to Angelle.

“But we still hold the mentality that if a member wants an employee to take care of their transaction or if they want interactive teller machines, we will take care of them,” he said. “We are giving the members choices, making things more efficient and moving the credit union further into the future of banking.”

Members are able to use the drive-thru — minus the tube-chutes — to take care of their transaction or call a teller, and a teller will serve them.

The location operates the same way inside the lobby.

A representative greets the member in the lobby. There are ITM in the lobby, but no tellers, just the new machines.

When a member needs to make a transaction, an employee can assist or they can contact a teller on the machine to complete the transaction.

Angelle said the digital aspect of the business allows members to bank from their own living room.

MCT Credit Union began as Mid County Teachers Credit Union 71 years ago. Then, in the mid-90s, the board of directors changed the charter, moving the institution from a teacher’s credit union to a community charter, thus opening the credit union to everyone in the community.
