A 20-year-old Port Arthur woman was reportedly so intoxicated she fell down multiple times while speaking to police, authorities said.
The suspect was indicted this week for evading arrest.
Police contend Nayeli Herrera evaded officers April 27 in Nederland around the 1000 block of Texas 347 and stopped the vehicle in the 6300 block of Texas 347 in Beaumont.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Herrera told officers she had been at a bar and only had one drink.
An officer reportedly smelled alcohol, said the suspect slurred her words and fell down multiple times.
Herrera denied consent to perform the field sobriety test and was placed in the patrol vehicle in handcuffs.
She consented to an intoxilyzer test and allegedly blew a .278 approximately 59 minutes from the time of the police call.
She was charged with driving while intoxicated, and her bond was set at $3,000.
She bonded out that afternoon, according to information from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
A Jefferson County grand jury handed down an indictment of evading arrest detention with vehicle, which is a third degree felony.
