Pat A. Riley, Jr., 72, of Woodville, Texas (formerly of Nederland), passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands, Texas.
Memorial services will be held 5 p.m., Friday, July 12, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Warren. Officiating will be his longtime friends, Dr. David Mahfouz and Chris Colletti.
Pat was born April 15, 1952 to Pat A. Sr. and Gladys Lavelle Best Riley in Tyler County, Texas. A 1970 graduate of Nederland High School and attended Lamar University and was a member of Lamda Chi Alpha Fraternity. In 1973 he attended Ahrens Real Estate School in Houston. A graduate of Commonwealth Mortuary, at the age of 23, he opened up and operated the Pat A. Riley Funeral Home and ambulance service in Nederland, Texas. In the mid 1990’s, he opened a branch of Pat A. Riley Funeral Home in Port Neches, Texas. He was also a licensed realtor. He was a lifetime member of Houston Livestock & Rodeo and the YMBL where he served as committeeman for both organizations. He was widely known as “Jelly Bean” the rodeo clown. He served as a lifetime speakers committeeman for the Houston Livestock & Rodeo. A past member of both the Nederland and Pt. Neches Chamber of Commerce, where he had formerly served on the Board of Directors. He was a past member of the Nederland and Woodville Lion’s Club as well as the Masonic Lodge and El Mina Shrine. Pat was elected Business Man of the Year for Nederland in 1990. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Warren and formerly a member of First Baptist Church in Nederland and Central Gardens. Pat had a passion for serving his fellowman and he will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pat A. Sr. and Gladys Riley.

He is survived by his daughter, Holly Hicks and husband, Clyde; sister, JoEllen Riley; brother, Terry Riley and wife, Melissa; granddaughter, Cadance Hicks; niece and nephew, Teri Lynn Riley and Cody Riley and wife Candice; great nephew, Mikal Miller; and numerous other family and friends.
