PORT NECHES — Motorists traveling a section of Nall Street have likely seen the earth work going on and the sign announcing Andy’s Plaza.
Local businessman Andy Salihu, who owns Nall Plaza and Joe’s Pizza and Pasta, is working with developer Better Built to create an 8,000 square foot retail plaza at 2902 Nall St.
Salihu said the building will hold four spaces, each at about 2,000 square foot in size. He anticipates opening the plaza in late September or early October.
For more information on the plaza, call 409-527-1344.
Port Neches City Council recently approved the first reading of a resolution authorizing the Port Neches Economic Development Corporation to grant funds to the project.
The PNEDC board approved the expenditure of funds not to exceed $174,185 to Andy’s Plaza at their June 24 meeting.
State statute requires that the city council approve, by resolution, the expenditure if it is more than $10,000.
Two readings of the resolution are required. A second reading will be placed on the Aug. 8 agenda.
In related action, council approved the first reading of a resolution authorizing the PNEDC to grant funds to the Ampan Building project.
The Ampan Building, 1005 Port Neches Ave., was approved for an amount not to exceed $48,950 during the June 24 PNEDC meeting.
Just as with Andy’s Plaza, two readings of the resolution are required. A second reading will be placed on the Aug. 8 agenda.
