Larry Anthony Nunez, 86, of Orangefield, passed away on August 16, 2024, peacefully at home surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City with a rosary to be recited at 1:30 p.m. Officiating will be Polly Bland, Danielle Bland, and Dana Turpin.

Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.

Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on October 3, 1937, he was the son of Aba Nunez and Cora Borel Nunez.

Larry’s life was marked by notable accomplishments and a dedication to his craft, which made a lasting impact on those around him.

A proud graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, Larry had a successful career that showcased his skill and determination. He worked as a carpenter, where he laid tile and flooring, demonstrating a level of workmanship that was admired by many.

Notably, Larry dedicated over 40 years to his role as a longshoreman until his retirement with Local 25, exemplifying a remarkable work ethic and commitment to his profession. His career was multifaceted; for 17 years, he served as a business agent, advocating for the rights and needs of his fellow workers. Beyond his professional achievements,

Larry was also known for his accomplishments in athletics. He proudly held the title of Beaumont Port  Arthur Golden Glove Boxing Champion of 1957, a testament to his dedication, discipline, and passion for the sport.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Aba and Cora Nunez; his brother, Taylor Nunez; and his niece, Dana Kay Ross.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Belinda Nunez; his children, Steven Nunez and wife, Tammy, Terri Runte and husband, Alan, Kelley Arnaud and husband, Craig, Ronald Nunez and wife, Katina, Rocky Hebert, Rex Hebert and wife, Tricia, Dana Dearing and husband, Brent, and Kirby Wallace and husband, Hunter; his grandchildren, Larry Nunez and wife, Brittany, Cary Nunez and wife, Beth, Julian Nunez and wife, Michelle, Luke Runte, Tessa Runte, Jace Runte, Maggie and husband, Jordan O’Neill, Cameron Arnaud, Reilly Hebert, Corrie Leblanc and husband, Josh, Emilee Nunez, Cody Hebert, Tyler Hebert, Reese Dearing, Reagan Dearing, Myers Wallace, Lib Wallace, and Arlen Wallace; his great-grandchildren, Carson, Jordi, Benji, Tripp, Collins, Clover, Cason, Hazel, Shepherd, Stevie, and Campbell; his siblings, Phyllis Ross and husband, Bobby, Leonard Nunez and wife, Carolyn, Sylvia McNeely and husband, Paul, and Wayne Nunez; along with numerous other loving family members and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Reilly Hebert, Cameron Arnaud, Craig Arnaud, Kenny Myers, Reese Dearing, Jordan O’Neill, Josh LeBlanc, Bucky High, Josh High, Bubba Myers, Carey Nunez, Julian Nunez, Larry Nunez, Brent Dearing, Joey Williams, and Matt Williams.
