A Monday afternoon house fire in Port Acres resulted in a structure being deemed a total loss.

The Port Arthur fire department responded to a call at 6400 Garnet Ave in Port Arthur, Sep. 16. When they arrived they found a residential structure engulfed in flames.

Two residents were home when the blaze started. Thankfully, they were able to escape the home unharmed.

Unfortunately, the home was deemed a total loss.

Investigators say the fire began in the garage and quickly spread.
