Richard “Dick” Bayliss Clark went to be with his Lord & Saviour on Thursday, October 22nd, 2015, after a lengthy illness. Dick was born in Port Arthur, Texas, on September 6th, 1938, to Floyd M. Clark and Marjorie Jensen Clark.
Dick is survived by his wife of 48 years, Diane Thompson Clark, his daughter Christy Clark Cummings and husband Charlie, his two sons, Stewart D. Clark and wife Stephanie, and Justin M. Clark, his brother Don Clark and wife Linda, his brother Jon Clark and wife Vicki, his sister Margie Usey and husband Tom. He dearly loved his four grandchildren: Jia Cummings, Lucy Cummings, Levi Cummings, and Noah Clark. Dick loved his mother-in-law, Eloise Thompson, so very much.
He would never stop talking about MeMaw’s good cooking. He had numerous nieces, nephews, very dear friends and a dog named Tank. All of these loved ones made his life so very special.
Dick was raised in Port Neches – Groves, Texas, and graduated from Port Neches – Groves High School in 1957. Dick served in the U.S. Army for three years, then the reserves for three years. He graduated from Lamar University with a Bachelor’s degree. Dick then worked for the Chevrolet Division of General Motors holding several positions and retired after 32 years of service.
Dick could fix anything that was broken and at the drop of a hat was always willing to help. Dick had a very witty personality and even when he was very sick, he would keep the doctors and nurses in stitches laughing. He enjoyed golf, hunting and fishing, football, and coached little league teams. Dick was a very good dad and was always cheering on his children in their activities.
Dick left us with many wonderful memories and his family and friends will forever cherish them.
A visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 30th, 2015, from 1PM to 2PM, then the service will begin at 2PM at Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest Dr, Spring, TX 77379. Burial will be at Cooper Cemetery, Merryville, LA on Saturday, October 31st, 2015, at 2PM.
