Port Arthur Police have released the name of a man whose body was discovered in Alligator Bayou this week.

He is identified as Dwight Lomaintewa, 39. He was last seen Feb. 20 at Texas 73 and West Port Arthur Road. 

A person was leaving work Wednesday and saw the man and called 911. Port Arthur police and fire departments responded to the scene. The body was recovered by PAFD’s Dive team. 

“Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time,” according to a statement from PAPD. “We appreciate the community’s support and efforts in sharing information and assisting in the search. The family has been notified, and we ask that their privacy be respected as they grieve.”
