Betty Jean Levine Eulian, 79, of Port Arthur,  TX, departed this life on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at her residence,  surrounded by her family and friends. She was  a lifelong resident of Port  Arthur, TX. 

Betty graduated with  honors from Abraham  Lincoln High School  in 1964 where she was  an active student, participating in multiple  organizations including Future Teachers of  America (FTA), Forensic  Club, Voters League, the  Editorial Staff, and the  cheerleading squad. After  high school, she attended  Prairie View A&M University where she boasted her school spirit as a  cheerleader, and where  in 1968, she received a  Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Her  loyalty to Prairie View  never waned as she would  later complete a Master of Education in Counseling from her alma mater.  

Betty began her teaching career in California in  1970. She later relocated  with her husband, Lon nie, Jr., to Istanbul, Turkey, where she taught for  two years. Betty moved  back to Port Arthur and  began teaching in the  Port Arthur Independent  School District (PAISD)  in 1972. Her first appointment was at Carver  Elementary School where  she remained until its  closing. Afterwards, she  taught at Sims Elementary School for one year. However, it was Tyrell  Elementary School where  she spent the bulk of her  teaching career. Betty  was a popular, well-respected educator known  for her excellent teaching  acumen and the way she  built long-lasting connections with her colleagues  and students. One of the  highlights of her career  came in 1990 when she  won Teacher of the Year  at Tyrrell. In 2008, Betty  concluded her career in  education after nearly 36  years of devoted service.  

Betty was a faithful and lifelong member of  Zion Hill Missionary  Baptist Church for over  71 years. During that  time, she served in multiple capacities including  finance secretary, stewardess/deaconess board  member, Simmonites  Youth Choir matron, and trustee board member. Betty was preceded in  death by her husband of  50 years, Lonnie, Jr.; her  parents, Forest and Amy  Levine; and two brothers, Clifton Morgan and Forest Levine, Jr. 

She leaves to cherish  her memories, her devoted daughter, Valencia  Eulian Martin (Leon)  of Houston, TX; grand daughter Faith Martin of  Houston, TX; five sisters,  Amy Allen, Ellana Price,  Dorothy Adams, and Forest Harrison, all of Port  Arthur, TX; and Ethel  Giddins (Jerry) of Temple Hills, MD; two brothers, Earl and Kenneth  Levine, of Port Arthur,  TX; adopted siblings,  Harold and Janice Underwood of Port Arthur,  TX; two sisters-in-law,  Donnetta Eulian Jackson  of Port Arthur, TX, and  Meta Hill of Louisville,  KY; special cousins, Paul  and Betty Williams, and  Hervis Levine, Sr.; special friends, John and  Cynthia Comeaux, Gail  Davis, Allen and Jackie  Dennis, Gladys Hollins,  Nelda Jackson, Grant and  Phyllis LaPointe, Harry LaPointe, and Mary  Sparks; godchildren,  Kanika Adams Trigg,  Schandra Holloway, and  Yoshara Ballou; and a  host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family  and friends. 

A wake will be from  6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2025 at  Gabriel Funeral Home  Chapel, 3800 Memorial  Blvd., Port Arthur, TX.  Funeral service will be  2 p.m. Saturday, March  29, 2025 at Rock Island  Baptist Church, 549 W.  11th Street, Port Arthur,  TX. Burial will follow  in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
