PORT NECHES — An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death for a Port Neches shipyard worker.
Justice of the Peace Brad Burnett said the call came in at approximately 10 a.m. Friday at Sterling Shipyard which is located at 906 Main St., Port Neches.
A worker, described as a 35-year-old male, was welding under a barge when a co-worker noticed the man appeared to be asleep. When the man was checked, he was not moving.
Burnett said he did not see anything out of the ordinary at the scene but added it is an active job site. An autopsy has been ordered.
The name of the deceased was not released as of 3:30 p.m Friday.
On Dec.14, shipyard worker Ricki Slone Jr. died in a heavy equipment incident at the facility.
